Figuring Out
What's Next
Is So Difficult

Adults with disabilities desire to live with independence and reach their potential, but there are very few options specifically designed to make this a reality.

Because of this problem:

Families don’t have
adequate options
for what’s next
as the “age-out”
approaches.

Instead they are living with aging parents, relatives,
or caregivers and struggle with
no long term plan.

Most adults
with disabilities
are living with
aging parents
and no long-term plan.

As the “age-out” reality gets closer, there are more
questions than answers.  Families worry about their loved one’s future
and what options are out there.

You and your loved ones deserve to
live as independently as possible

Watch here to see how your dream of independence can become a reality!

MEET THE HIXSONS!

Meet Pete and Hollie Hixson with their two daughters, Hope and Addie – and their dog, Bo.  Pete is the Founder/CEO of Beyond Communities.

The Hixsons have been a part of the special needs community for over 20 years. Their oldest daughter, Hope (far right) was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy when she was 2 years old. Beyond Communities is for her, and so many others who crave independence and have so much more to give to the world.

We have decided to become students of this problem and we are determined to create more options and opportunities for our beloved community.

Hope is currently a student at Shepherds College, a fully accredited 3-year college specifically designed for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs).

Going to college isn’t usually on the radar of individuals and families within the special needs community, but at Shepherds College you can major in technology,
culinary arts, and horticulture – as well as get 3 years of intentional training towards independent living! Students who graduate from
Shepherds College have the opportunity to reach more potential, have gainful employment, and live with more independence.

OUR PLAN

Our plan is to create residential communities integrated into safe, mixed-use developments for
15-20 residents in each location. We will provide appropriate support with staffing, ongoing personal and professional development, and local partnerships. This will allow our
residents to build meaningful relationships in their community, further their career,
and live as independently as possible.

#1
There is a
big need

1-3% of adults in the US have some form of intellectual / developmental disability. There are very few accessible options designed for continued growth and potential. We want to do our part to change that.

#2
We have a
big vision

For the last 2 years, we have been pursuing the right plan for programming, finances, and type of living spaces. We are working with a developer on our first location in the North Atlanta area, and our long-term vision is to build Beyond Communities locations all over the US.

#3
YOU CAN MAKE A
BIG DIFFERENCE

Every gift, every share, and every prayer is a significant way that you can partner with us.
Together, we’ll establish awareness to those who need this and funds to get started.
